First steps
Katelyn took her first steps yesterday. We were at church and someone asked me if Kate was taking any steps yet. I told her not yet. About 15 minutes later I stood Katelyn on the ground next to me as she was playing with a water bottle. (Note: Water bottles are one of the best toys ever, and a woman at church was nice enough to share her empty water bottle with Katelyn.) She stood for a second, and then she took 4 steps to reach a nearby couch. Apparently she IS taking steps now!

Walk in the Park
Our downtown has this lovely park along the river. Last Saturday the temperature reached almost 80 degrees, so we went to Riverwalk park and had a fun time as a family. Katelyn really enjoyed seeing everything.
Katelyn loves the weekend, because Dad is home so much. (I love the weekend for the same reason.) She gets so excited when Dad is around.
Clapping at something she liked.
This video isn't anything incredibly exciting, but I just thought I'd let you see how grown up she is quickly becoming.

What a lucky guy I am

I am currently in Springfield, IL on business until Thursday, and all I can think about as I sit in my lonely hotel room without my family, is my beautiful wife. It's hard to believe that it was over 2 years ago that we were married- oh how time flies! I love my wife more today than I ever thought possible back when I married her. I love her so very much. Thanks Em, for everything you do and are! I can't wait to see you on Thursday.

11 month old stats
Tonight we decided to measure Katelyn and check her stats against one of those baby growth percentile charts online. Who knows how accurate they are (or how accurate our measurements are). I think it is probably pretty close. She is definitely short compared to other kids her age. As for her head...we'll just blame it on having lots of hair. :)
Length = between percentile 10 and 25 (27.5 inches)
Weight = between percentile 25 and 50 (19.4 pounds)
Head Circumference = between percentile 90 and 95 (18.5 inches)
She also has 2 new teeth coming in (the top center two). This will bring her total to 4 teeth. She doesn't seem to get noticeably grumpy when teething. I'm very grateful for that!

Pocahontas
Here are some photos of our cute little "Pocahontas" on Halloween.
Notice the two little braids. :) The headband was removed just after this picture was taken. It never made it out the door to trick-or-treat.
Then we had to add layers underneath to be able to brave the chilly weather...
with Aunt Elise and Aunt Erica all ready to go...
Trick-or-treating with Mom at Papa's (Kate's great-grandpa)
She seemed to enjoy trick-or-treating at first, but after a little while she got frustrated that every piece of candy was inside a wrapper. Once we opened a piece for her she was much happier. Then she fell asleep shortly after.
