Disney World: "I want to see it"

Another Disney World video. Katelyn loves swimming. Absolutely loves it. Luckily we have a pool outside here for the summer. Anyway, here she is in Disney World all ready to go to the pool. I am mostly posting this video to show her communication skills. Katelyn is talking a lot more now. I'm not sure anyone (other than Jason and I) can understand much of what she says, but she says many things. At the end of this video you can hear her say her version of "I want to see it."

Some of the most common words in Katelyn's vocabulary are...

  • yeah/yes (eah or yah...while nodding)
  • more (moe-wah)
  • ball (baw)
  • this (diss)
  • there
  • again (adahn)
  • Mom (maah)
  • Dad (daah)
  • Oh!
  • Water (waha)-This is said only in reference to pools, lakes, etc. She doesn't call what she drinks water.
  • Bubble (duh-duh)

I'm sure there are others, but that is the list that comes to mind at the moment. She is growing up so quickly!

Disney World: Characters

We recently returned from a magical few days in Disneyworld. We had a great time. The "we" included the three of us along with one of my sisters. Kate loved the characters. They loved her too. She got very excited about waving to them. She would rarely wave to real people before our trip, but she was always willing to wave to the characters.

Video #1: In this first video we were watching the "Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It" street party in the Magic Kingdom...for the third time. Katelyn LOVED it. She danced, clapped, pointed, and waved the entire time. The characters and cast members enjoyed this a lot, but they clearly scared her when they tried to get close to her. We laughed and laughed as she "danced" and tried to wave at the same time.

Video #2: The first time we watched the parade Katelyn received lots of special attention from the chipmunk, Dale. After that experience he got special attention from her. However, he still freaked her out if he tried to get very close.

Video #3: Meeting Pooh. He was the one character she was incredibly happy to approach. She wasn't afraid of him. Katelyn has a big stuffed Pooh Bear that she loves to carry around, and apparently this helped make him less scary. This video was her first experience with a character while in Disney World.

We never got close to Mickey Mouse. She may have loved him too. Instead, she had her stuffed Mickey that had to do everything with us. Here he is riding the bus with Katelyn. She liked to mash his face to the window to have him "watch" out the window after she did.

Here Katelyn wanted me to take a picture of Mickey for her.

Napping with Mickey.

Having Mickey watch for a bus with her. Buses were one of her favorite things in Disney World. She now says "bus" by saying "duss." We aren't sure why she says it this way since she makes the b sound perfectly in other words like ball and balloon.
