No more naps

This is a difficult concept for me to accept; however, it seems that Katelyn is ready to be done napping. Yes, done napping. You may be thinking, "Isn't 15 months about the right age to move from 2 to 1 naps?" Typically this would be true. Katelyn has been a one nap girl since she was 7 months old.

Lately she has taken to staying up much too late. 10 or 11 some nights. She did one day with no nap so far, and she went down for bed beautifully (and early). Then she got sick, so the naps have been necessary again. As she is getting healthy I have a feeling the naps will start to disappear. The transition will be tough, and I will miss the time during the day when I can accomplish a great deal. At least I can find solace in the fact that she has always been a good sleeper at night.

Library

With Dad out of town the last couple of weeks (to Philadelphia for work) Katelyn and I needed something to look forward to each day. The library fulfills this for us, because Katelyn LOVES reading. The library is almost too exciting though. She can't read an entire book there. She gets through 1 or 2 pages and then moves on to a new book. There are so many books at the library! It is a wonderful place!

How is she such a kid already? Where did my baby Kate go?

Little Helper

Katelyn has become quite the little helper around the house. A couple days ago I took something out of the oven right before getting her out of her high-chair after lunch. I went back to what I was working on and pretty soon she came to me like this.
That is one of our oven mitts. She would really like to help use them at the oven. Although she doesn't get to help with things in the oven, she often "helps" me by...

• Carrying clean laundry to her bedroom.
• "Folding" laundry, although she only helps do this with already folded items.
• Stirring whatever I am stirring during meal prep.
• Using a rag or sponge to "clean" whenever I am cleaning.
• Putting her toys into their designated containers. I have started finding utensils in these toy containers too.
  
• Unloading the dishwasher (whether clean or dirty).
• Closing doors. (She then cries because she just shut herself away from everyone else.)
• Attempting to put clothes, headbands, jewelry, hair ties, etc. on by herself. She is sometimes successful.
  
• Opening and closing our garage door when needed.

Katelyn has quickly become a helpful toddler and not a baby. I love to see how she grows and changes each day.
